Beautiful deer in our backyard this morning. It's cold, drizzly and foggy and they were there eating the bird seed tossed out by the birds.   There is snow up on the hills and of course on the mountains but not on our ground yet ... sometime today I think it will arrive.  It makes me think of Christmas and I adore it.

Halloween is this coming week. Where on earth did October go to so quickly.  Hubby's birthday tomorrow so we might go for a walk in the woods.  The trees are absolutely gorgeous and I love finding the really big leaves that fall .. in all colours and sizes.  I am quite looking forward to winter so I can sit in my new leather recliner chair with my white faux fur rug on me and watch some of my favourite English murder mysteries, or Downton Abbey..etc.   Nothing nicer than a comfy chair and a hot cup of tea.. scones too of course or perhaps some banana bread. If large fluffy snow flakes start coming down I usually run outside and stand on the deck with my arms out so they will land on my black sweater.  I know, I'm weird ...  :-)

Beautiful morning today .. misty and quiet, serene and chilly ... looking out over the field I saw the deer coming to visit the bird feeders.  There were 7 in their little group and it was wonderful to see them as we  usually do when winter is nearly upon us.  Sadly I could hear gun shots going off because hunting season is in full mode. Luckily the deer were close to our town and they are not allowed to be shot so close to the populated area.  I wish all the deer in British Columbia would come to the field and stay safe.  Breaks my heart to know many of them will die this season.

I also had a visit from an absolutely gorgeous bird called a Stellar Jay and he's about half the size of a crow and has the most magnificent coloured feathers of black and gradually going into the brightest blue ... I'd never seen one before and he's full of energy and interest for me to give him peanuts in their shells which he diligently takes and positions into the soft lawn which is covered with leaves. He pushes the peanut into the soft earth with his beak and pecks at it like a wood pecker, driving it as deep as it will go then he covers it with some of the leaves and flies back to the tree for me to give him more nuts.    I guess by his activities he'll be around all winter now to claim his food stash once the snow gets deep and the weather is really cold.   I love him... he's very special and clever.  I'm glad I'll be seeing him during the long winter months.

I have found out why the geese "honk" as they fly above me going south for the winter. I love hearing them and they make such a noise its incredible.  Seems they are talking to their other family members ... giving them guidance I guess or telling them which way they are meant to be flying.  Also found out (after wondering about it) ... how or why they fly at night as well as daylight.  With the thousands of miles they need to fly they get overheated flapping their beautiful big wings ... so the night air keeps them much cooler so they can fly further and faster.   Nature sure is marvellous.

Christmas isn't far away .... Halloween first though .... time goes so quickly I just can't keep up.  The little birds are stashing away the seeds and so is the squirrel for the long, long cold winter.
I feel a bit like an old bear too .... getting ready to more or less "hibernate" for the snowy months because it gets too cold to go anywhere and our little country town doesn't have many places to go... A visit to the supermarket or the doctor or drugstore will just about be it ...

I love these pretty vintage images. I might have to use this one and create something for my Etsy Shoppe...

It certainly is Fall around here... our lawn is covered in pretty yellow and caramel coloured leaves and my little squirrel is working so hard to put away the stash of peanuts and sunflower seeds I've given out.  Birds are flocking to the feeders and the beautiful, gorgeous geese have been flying over in their thousands heading south for the winter.  They have such long journeys to make and I always wish them safe travelling, looking skywards and enjoying their honking and chatter as they go.    So I guess snow won't be too far away ... it already feels like it should be here.

Aussie football grand final was exciting ..... watching it live was great. Made me think I was there with all my Australian mates enjoying the drinks, parties and barracking for a great team.   Now today I've had to catch up on some sleep.

It looks like winter is on its way. Our next door province (Alberta) had snow yesterday and it feels like it won't be far away for us here in British Columbia ..... up in the beautiful woods with the bears and the wolves as I always say.   The trees are losing their leaves and the fields and grasses are looking very scruffy.  And of course my little squirrel is working like mad to stash away as much as she can.   It's very early for winter to be starting ... one year I remember there was no snow right up until the week before Christmas. September is very early.  The geese have gone so I guess they knew before we did ..... that soon we'll need coats, scarves, gloves and boots.   I love the snow ......

BUT DO NOT SELL ANYTHING that I've made unless I say its okay to do so.  AND PLEASE DO NOT PILE THEM INTO SHARING PLACES .... gosh they are everywhere.  :-(
If it continues I will be deleting my blog.

I have a new Iphone. It was a freebie and I'm liking it a bit more today than I did yesterday when I got it from the store.  So much to learn and figure out.  But today I logged into the Overdrive Media program and borrowed an audio book from our local library.   I've been doing that on my tablet for some years now but not on any phone so it will be nice to sit outside and keep an eye on the cats trying to catch the birds coming to the bird feeder .. and I can listen to my book whilst I'm on guard duty.     I always tell hubby that I'm going on "cat patrol" ... I hate it if they catch the birds and I certainly don't want them to catch my sweet little girl squirrel who sits on my hand and loves the peanuts I give her.   Life is good.....  :-)

Gotta love hats if you are into anything vintage. They were an important and imperative addition to wardrobes ...  frankly as much as I love hats I love the hat boxes they came in even more.   I have a nice collection of pretty boxes ... and they are filled with all sorts of things ...  great ways to keep your pretties neat and tidy.

I don't often promote my DVD filled to the brim with over 500 digital collage sheets but perhaps
some of you who visit here aren't aware of the super deal.   Look for the coupon codes at my Etsy store because there is usually one going at any given time which will further reduce the cost of the DVD.

I send them all over the world to the clever ladies who create so many gorgeous things ...
one lady even added some of the images to cookies she had made using edible icing,
... another uses them for quilt blocks,
and of course jewelry.  Journal covers, gift envelopes, so many uses for them ...
And they can be delivered to your door within 2 - 3 weeks.

Back home.... wow! .... awful journey but good to see the relatives.  I'm not a fan of driving long distances.. I end up wobbling and goofy like I've been on a boat ... trying to get my land legs again .... takes me a couple of days to get back to normal.   Yesterday lawns got mowed, flowers watered, unpacked all the goodies I found along the way .. and today we need to go grocery shopping.  And of course I had a sleep in ...  :-)

A couple of images for you this morning... I hope you like them....

Wow the little birds are certainly out and about up here in the Canadian woods.
The crows too.  My little squirrel had her hands full this morning trying to shoo them away from the stash of food I'd put into her feeder.  I'll have to start calling it a squirrel feeder rather than a bird feeder because its her that gets all the goodies.  The birds have other feeders.   She is so sweet with her little tiny nipples amongst her white belly fur so she's obviously got babies in the hideout along the next door fence and in the tree behind their shed.  I love watching her busily taking a mouthful back to her home and returning for more food.   She runs up the branches of the small tree and onto the next tree where the crows sit and she's not one tiny bit scared of them.  She almost bites their ankles ...  (do crows have ankles .... lol)
They fly away and wait for her to turn around and then they try to sneak back.   It's lovely having
one's cup of tea out there and just sitting and watching the antics and yesterday I did just that and also listened to my wonderful audio book.   I sure love audio books and a great story teller is Linda Lael Miller with her western romances and lovely stories about Texas and Montana.

Beautiful photo.  I wish I could do this to the little deer that come visit me in the winter.
Smooch ...  he looks like he's enjoying it....
It's been very rainy ... now that we have sanded our deck and waiting to paint it ...
I hope we can get it painted before we head down to Vancouver for a short holiday soon.

This is a pretty wallpaper for your computer desktop. I change mine regularly... mostly I use
images of wildlife like bears, wolves, etc .. or pretty scenery .. but I always come back to something pink with vintage images on it.  This one looks great on my big computer screen so click on it to see it larger if you want to save it or install it.

I hope all the mums had a wonderful Mothers Day last weekend.  I don't have any children nor do I have any furbabies ... my beloved dogs have grown old with me and now passed away.  So my mothers day was quiet ...

A pretty desktop wallpaper for your computer...
Lots of room for your program icons.

A pretty new image at my Etsy Shoppe...  it would make a gorgeous journal cover or print it out for lots of cards, or just frame it .... very shabby chic with pink roses and very vintage. You can click on the link or the image to take you to the Etsy page if you are interested.
