Gosh I cannot believe that it is nearly June already.  Half the year gone.... barely summer and good weather and I'm thinking of the deer which will return when the first snow falls.  It all comes around so quickly.

A fall from my bike today so I'm sore and sorry for myself. It sure did hurt.  Thank goodness for helmets and I wasn't going very fast.  My old knees are hurting and I felt the bone in my hip hit the road.  A very sore hand where I went to stop myself ....  it all happens in some sort of weird slow motion. It's like you are watching it happen but you can't do a darn thing about it.   I'll rest up for a little while ....  hopefully my old body will still work when I try again.  I think I'll need to send one of these get well cards I regularly post here .. to myself...   LOL.....   Getting old is the pits... I hate it.   Where do the years go.   One minute it seems we are scooting around young and gorgeous then the next we are wrinkled, old, and aching.

If you would like the transparent tube for this one please click here - its on my 4shared account.
It's called wd-wreath459

Sun was out today.. and not so cold so we ventured down to the plant nursery.  Came home with a gorgeous hanging basket of white flowers ... it looks like a big ball and in between in various places are just one little pink petunia and something else pink that I'm not sure of it's name.  We got various coloured  petunias as well  to plant in some other containers, zinnias, lobelias and some geraniums so I've been busy with new soil, fertilizer, watering can and weeding the garden.  Now I'm all set to watch them grow and bloom.   I love sitting on my deck reading books or magazines and just watching the  "grass grow" and sipping something cool in the summer heat.   I'll take some photos for you all when they start blooming.
I just noticed that the bees are already around them. Poor things they must not have an easy task when the flowers are so scarce.  And the hummingbirds too will be fluttering by.

A top for your blog.... from my collection of "Whimsydust Toppers".
You just need to add the name of your blog and insert it into your layout.
There's a whole bunch of them for just $7.99 so you would have lots to use .. and change them over like I regularly do.   I love making new looks for my blog ..  *(s)

I hate B.P.  (British Petroleum).   The oil spill is still spewing thousands of gallons into the ocean and its been over a month.  Why are these oil companies allowed to build oil platforms and drill when they have no back up plan for a disaster.   They and the US government are still doing nothing.  Nobody seems to know what to do. They are still trying to decide who should be in control.   In the meantime .......disaster........  for the wildlife and for the ocean and the land.  I can't bear to think of what its doing to everything in its path.   All I can do is pray that someone soon will come up with a plan to stop it.   And the guy in charge at B.P. .... he's a right moron.   At first he even said it wasn't a big spill .... 45,000 square miles isn't a big spill.......  what planet is he from.   He's lied about so many things.    Now yesterday they say it could be August before it can be halted. Everything in its path is dying.

It's a beautiful, warm, sunny day here in the woods today ...  I've got a nice comfy chair ready for my hubby so he can sit out there with me and enjoy the goodness and warmth of the sun.   We still have some birds coming to our feeders each day but not a fraction of those that were coming in the past few weeks.  I guess its time for them now to be building nests, and making baby birds.   I've seen quite a few hummingbirds as well.

get well card

Wow... I was scared. My husband collapsed and I had to call the ambulance.  He's okay now but it sure was awful.  I don't think there is anything worse than seeing a loved one suffering and not knowing what the outcome will be.  He's home and is a good patient so that's keeping me busy.   Just popped into my blog for a moment or two.

In case you need a get well card for someone you love ....I've included one here ... beautiful little girl artwork by the very talented Mary Engelbreit. Click on it to see it orginal size and save from there.

gosh isn't there a lot of settings on our computers that can change in an instant and mess up the whole look of your screen.  I sat here to write on my blog and the writing was huge, the images were all out of whack.... way too big.  A good deal of searching around my settings and I found that for whatever reason it had clicked itself on to the 125% view settings.   I clicked on the 100% and it was back to normal again thank goodness.  I think most of the hassles we experience come from the automatic updates.  And even today I still had problems with emails ... pretty stationery coming out but my letter was gone.  Who knows aye!!!! could be another Yahoo glitch. I know they are fiddling around with something new and inevitably when they do that it messes us up for ages.

Grandson Connor and I visited the baby bunnies next door yesterday. They sure have grown.  Only 3 weeks ago they popped out of their mum .. looking a bit like tiny little sausages without the skin on.  Eyes closed and very tiny.  Now they are half as big as mum with such pretty caramel coloured fur.
And a visit to some garage sales yesterday was very fruitful with me finding a really nice country mug, teapot and sugar bowl set.. brand new for $5... some nice boxes which I love ... and a whole bunch of the prettiest paper bags I'd seen for quite some time. I love big bags... I fill them with fabric scraps, and all sorts of things I have in our spare room. They make it all a bit more tidier.  Also got a wagon for grandson to pull around loaded up with his toys or whatever else he wants to play with ....  and also a book about diabetes which looks very interesting.   We have a huge yard sale coming up soon in a couple of weeks. It's in a field just out of town and goes for about 4 days.  I love that one.....

Shuttle launches today.... last one.  I'll be sad to see the end of this. Don't really understand why the US Government would cease funding for the space program after spending billions of dollars on building the space station.  Now Russia will get the use of it ...   here is the link to see what's happening at NASA now... live....   Fly safe astronauts ... You will be in my prayers.   Safe journey.

YOU HAVE TO SEE here. No wonder I love them so much.  I often walk in the woods and drive by and wonder where they all are sleeping.  Could be right up close and I'd never know.   Absolutely gorgeous... I want one ... :-))

I opened a new Yahoo group today for those of us who have diabetes or know someone who has or perhaps those who are caregivers to someone who has to deal with this disease on a daily basis.  You can click on the bolded words to go to Yahoo and sign up.

We're hoping to provide some support, advice, fun, tips and tricks, interesting facts and along the way I'll also surprise you all with some pretties from my website or some things newly created for us all in the group.

It should be a wonderful place for friends to gather with love in their hearts to help those they care about and for us all with diabetes to look after ourselves. It's certainly not easy .... so I'm looking forward to chatting with the members each day to find out how they are doing....

"This is my wish for you.
Comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes,
rainbows to follow the clouds, laughter to kiss your lips,
sunsets to warm your heart, hugs when spirits sag,
beauty for your eyes to see, friendships to brighten your being,
faith so that you can believe,
 confidence for when you doubt,
courage to know yourself, patience to accept the truth,
 love to complete your life."

A surprise today in my mail from one of the Yahoo groups I am in.  One of my desktops I'd posted to that group to share with its members was dated August 2009 and was only today being delivered.  Where in heavens has it been for all that time.  Cyberspace ... outer space ...  lol.....
Sweet little vintage image of two girls ... I love these old goodies.  Calendar from 1895.  Wow...

I also love ephemera ... old maps, menus, receipts for merchandise, labels from soaps and more. There are so many gorgeous pretties out there in "vintage land" ...

You can click on this one to see it larger and perhaps save it to your folders.

A brisk bike ride in the early morning sunshine ... quite a long distance I went this morning.  Up and over hills, through the main street of our little town, past the garden nursery and home again.  Lots of people were out driving to church,  I guess being Mother's Day they may have had an early session.  I am glad I did it all early .. now I won't feel guilty for just sitting around out on my deck in the sunshine reading my latest mystery book which really has me a bit scared of what's going to happen next.  *(s)... can't put it down .... A cup of tea and listening to the birds in between paragraphs ... what more could a girl want... except perhaps to be surrounded by loving children which alas I do not have.

A gorgeous day today and supposed to be also for tomorrow (Mother's Day here in North America).  Back home in Australia it is already Mother's Day and I would be taking some flowers to my mum's grave ... can't do that now and I have no brothers or sisters to do so ....  I'm thinking of you mum today and always.

Hey did you know you can change that horrible blue navigation bar in your blog... thats the one right at the top.  Log into your blog account, go to layout and click navbar and edit..... you can see other colours. I like the silver because it goes with all my blog backgrounds and anyone who comes here knows I change things around quite often. It's a good tip so tryi it out....   gosh I love blogs. What did we ever do without them.  It's a wonderful, free way of sharing images or using it like I do .. .more like a diary... for anyone interested in an Aussie's day up here in the woods of northern Canada.  And don't forget there's a big bunch of blog toppers for sale on my website... really cheap and quite lovely and vintage .....  *(s)
My vintage blog "Reflections of the Past" has a  lovely, original old  image for mothers day. Hop over and save it and use it in your creations or just as is.
And to all the mothers out there .. .I'm wishing you a wonderful day this weekend ... shared with
those you love and who love you in return.  Fur babies especially included for those like me who were not
fortunate enough to have children of their own.  My pets have always been my children.  They have provided me with such fun, and support, love, dedication, and wonderful good times.

Wow ... I woke up this morning... May 5th .... to find it snowing like it was never going to end.  And the flakes were absolutely huge.  You can click on the image and see it full size and just how big the snow actually was.  I stood at the window ... opened and took the photo of our little back yard.

The furniture on the deck had all been moved to the side of the house because its been very windy lately.  If you look closely in between the rails of the deck you will just see our new bird bath we put on the grass yesterday.   I went outside to put seed in the feeders and the bath was surrounded by a beautiful ring of "sugary flakes".... the water was still in the middle but it looked so much like one of  those drinks  you get at the bar with the sugar around the edge of the glass..

So pretty.  But oh so weird at this time of the year.  The little birds didn't seem to mind because they were still chirping away..... I guess the Spring sun will come out later this morning or afternoon and it will all be gone again.
Our little Connor comes to visit and loves to draw on the blackboard in our office.

He stands on the chair and plays there for ages whilst his grandma does her paintshop pro thing..

He'll be three in November

Mothers Day soon....
Never was a mother only to my darling little furbabies ... have no mum living so its not a happy day for me.  This mother duck seems to have her hands full with her big brood of ducklings.
They are so sweet... I love ducks.
