Mother and baby deer came to visit today ... they are actually in my yard as I write this ... so gorgeous. The little one stood behind the fence post thinking maybe I couldn't see him or her .... sneaking a peak around the post every now and again to tip it's head sideways and perhaps wonder what the heck is that thing (me) putting that yummy yellow stuff out onto the snow.  Cracked corn they love ....  and I'm so glad I can feed them.  I will miss them for sure if we ever manage to move.

Gosh why isn't something being done about this horrible Wikileaks guy who is giving out American secrets.  They can charge him with treason even though he is not an American citizen.  All the information that was leaked from the Pentagon by an employee there and is now in the hands of the whole world because this guy published it or gave out the information to a zillion newspapers ....  surely must be a crime with a punishment attached.   If someone stood on the steps of some building and shouted out this information he would indeed be charged with treason ...........  just awful and it puts all service men and women in peril not only in the USA armed forces but across the world.

I had missed my Sherlock game and couldn't find the dvd I saved it too so I could install it onto our new computer.  Well finally after hours of searching I gave up and went online ... it was on sale ... $4.99 only ... so I purchased it again.

At least I knew it would be working properly (keeping my fingers crossed) when I installed it.  Yes it works fine.
Then I found the dvd I had made of it when I purchased it last year.  Oh well... isn't that always the way.   It's a great game and its like watching a movie.  The graphics are stunning .... and after printing out the 50 pages of walkthrough I'll be set for the winter doing all the tasks and solving the crimes.  Love it love it love it................... :-)
That will keep me busy whilst the snow is coming down .....

This morning when our neighbour's dog started barking I knew our deer were here for lunch.  They are so sweet and a mum brought her little one with her .........  and a short while later a gorgeous guy turned up with antlers so stunning he looked like Santa had landed in the yard and I was looking at the reindeer.  They have already gone through a big bag of cracked corn so they are getting in much earlier this year .. and winter hasn't even arrived yet.  Another four stood out in the field not quite sure if it was safe or not.   Bless them I prayed for their safe return.

Seems Donald Trump might make a bid for President of the United States in 2012.  He's frustrated and annoyed and saddened at the state of the country and in the direction it's headed. He will make up his mind by July of next year and will finance his campaign from his eight billion dollar fortune.  Well that ought to be enough money ... !!!!   He's angry at what Obama has done .... and I think a guy like him might know a thing or two about being successful and making financial growth happen.  That's what the country needs.......... jobs ....... and more jobs to build the economy.  Will certainly be an interesting Presidential race in 2012.  I think Hillary will also give it a try again.

I'm thinking since our weather has gone very cold and bad that I might have to install my Sherlock Holmes Jack the Ripper game on my new computer. It was great fun and I never did get to the finish.  It went on for what seemed like years and so many clues and tasks to perform and puzzles to solve. It will keep me going till summer I think. Now all I have to do is find the disk I saved it to.  I sure do hate it when one's computer decides to give up the ghost and stop working.  I'm completely addicted to anything Sherlock ... and I hope santa brings me a Kindle this year so I can go online and download the 430 or so books that Amazon has with Sherlock in the title.  Maybe old Santa's sleigh might tip over a bit as he flies over our house up here in the woods of northern British Columbia as he comes from the North Pole and a Kindle will fall out for me.... I can only hope .........
Isn't he a cute santa on my background ... I love him because he obviously loves animals with all those cats around him.  I don't think there is anything nicer than being in your bed and being surrounded or at least sat on ... by your pets.  When my sweet little guy Wilbur was a puppy he would try and chew the pages of the book I was reading. He loved snuggling up close to me ... snoozing in the afternoon sunshine often upside down with all legs in the air.... or going around and around in a circle many times till he felt it was the right spot to plonk himself down next to his mum.  He used to snore (as does my beautiful grand dog) ... they are so funny.  I can imagine in this cold .. not yet winter... we seem to be having here in Canada and across the USA that many pets would be curled up cosily on the beds of their owners.  No matter how big your house is they all tend to congregate into the one spot .. and that's as close as they can be to you ... on your bed. It's like sleeping with a bunch of bears ...  :-)   Gotta love it !!!

Christmas is just around the corner. I think this is the first year of my entire existence that I have not been motivated or have any incentive at all to decorate my house or go shopping.  Of course it would help if I won the lottery to do the shopping with ........  and maybe if the weather lightens up a bit and I can stand outside for longer than 10 minutes I might put up my little reindeer and sleigh which is made entirely from lights....  it looks so pretty on the snow.  But inside our house.. I'm not all that sure that I'll bother this year.
Oh well.. we'll see what happens in the coming weeks.   I don't really need to decorate when I can look out the window and see lovely trees covered in snow. It looks like I'm already inside of a christmas card.

My sweet little deer friends were back today ... its nice when they come in the afternoon and I can get some photos of them.   We've also had so many small black birds come to the feeders. They have cleaned us out.
This little guy is obviously glad his owner is home and enjoys going head first into the shoes.  My sweet little girl cat would do the same to my shoes when I came home from work.  I guess she missed her old mum.

Military Pegs Hourly Air Force One Cost at $181G, as Obama Sets Travel Record.

President Obama has spent more days abroad in his first two years than any other president.
I think that's all he does.  Flying around blowing his own trumpet like he did yesterday to an Illinois car company who they bailed out last year.  Hypocritical thing about that was ....   all the workers were sent home because of the security problems and they were put on half pay for their efforts.  Wow!   The President comes to visit your work and you are told to return home and we'll only pay you for half a day's work.   Urgh!!!   I really don't think he understands the American people at all and what they are going through.

A grim day in Dallas, Texas .... 47 years ago today.  I was thirteen and I remember hearing the details on our black and white television set.  As I grew older I learned who he was and what had happened and when I began coming to the United States pretty much on a regular basis over a few decades I  visited the spot where he was assassinated.   I stood on the grassy verge where his motorcade had passed by... looking up at the Texas Book Depository

where the gunshot came from.... or did it...   Even today nobody knows who really killed John F Kennedy.
Theories abound ....   and the haunting photo of Jackie leaning back over the limosine with her hand outstretched trying to recover the part of her husband's brain.  It was awful.  I think its one of those days we all know where we were and what we were doing when it happened.   And I have seen the eternal flame at Arlington National Cemetery..... I could not believe I was there with him .. so close... so unreal ....

A big bright Christmas desktop wallpaper for you from whimsydust.com.

Click to see it full size and save it from there.   It will look nice on my big computer screen.. all red and full of Christmas cheer ... as I look out my window to all the white snow around us.
Good heavens it is super cold and snowy here for us this week.  I'm hoping next week will lighten up a bit for us so we can at least go outside and wrap up our little trees out front so the deer won't eat them during the winter.  They nearly devoured them from the ground to about half way up but the wrapping last year helped to save them and they grew new bits this past spring.   Now its time to do that again but it's just so awfully cold out there.

This morning I did go out to put more seed for the little chickadees which seem to think I'm a supermarket coming to their aid .... I love them all so much. They are so pretty with their little white, grey and black feathers.  I stood under the feeders looking at the seeds for a couple of moments when all of a sudden a whole bunch of birds landed on me and onto the feeders right in front of my nose. I could look into their eyes from only a couple of inches away and as I did so one little chickadee went straight into the plastic jug I was carrying the seeds in.  He selected the bit he wanted and out he flew again.  I was amazed that they weren't frightened of me. Perhaps they are the same ones returning each year and know I won't hurt them.

One little one was standing on the feeder ledge at the bottom of the container and he was pecking away at the wood.  The bottom half of him didn't move and he was feverishly pecking as if to free himself.  I thought oh God ... please tell me he's not frozen to the wood. His little legs would surely break and I had no clue how I would get him unfrozen.    I suppose I'd have to lean in close to him and breathe my warm breath onto him .....   As I watched and talked to him and he continued to peck at the wood ... suddenly his little legs moved and he was okay.  I guess he was just pecking at a small piece of dried fruit from the bird seed I'd put there.  But what a fright I got. I did not want to see him remain and perish in the cold.   A friend of ours once saw a hummingbird frozen to a branch.  Many .. I know .. have their little legs break in the cold.   It's stunning how creatures can survive at all when its so cold... and it's not even that low really ... minus 21 degrees... It can go much lower than that.

A good time for me to make some things on my computer and share them here with you.    And I'm still saying my prayers for the Air Force pilot lost in Alaska.  It's not looking good for him. So sad.........

A little card for you to use for Christmas.  Soft and delicate and inspired by all the white around me here in the woods of northern British Columbia. Click on the image to see it full size and save it to your folders.

Today they are searching desperately for a downed Air Force pilot who "hopefully" ejected from his Stealth fighter plane in Alaska. They have found the wreckage but no pilot.  Whether he is wandering from the crash site (injured or disoriented) or ejected many miles away it won't be an easy task to find him.   I worried about him all last night because its been very very cold for us here in British Columbia and I can only imagine what he'll be experiencing up in Alaska which doesn't seem to be all that far away from us.   He'll most likely be a young man ... I'm surprised and amazed that these pilots can be only twenty years old in some cases but he's well clothed and well prepared for emergencies so I hope they can find him today.  He's in my prayers.

Is winter upon us already. I didn't think it was quite time yet. This morning I have shovelled off our huge deck ... shovelled snow from the steps at the front and the back.  Cleared a spot for my hubby to park the truck, shovelled a path to the bird feeders at the bottom of the yard and one also over to our shed in case we need to get something from there.  I've also opened the gate for the deer to come into our yard which I'm sure they will be doing pretty quickly.  Yesterday was much the same as today... with our friend who lives further up in the woods telling me he had to use a crowbar to get into his truck. The door was frozen solidly shut.  Last night we also had to bring in an electrical cable from the shed and lay it out in the living room to thaw it out ......so we could plug it into the power point near the front door and run it across the deck and up into the engine of the truck so we can start the darn thing when we need to use the vehicle. .  It's horrible out there....bitterly cold.  Now I'm ready for a nice warm cup of chocolate and maybe some spaghetti for lunch............ oh dear!!  It's way too cold already .........

Got a new mobile phone today.  LG something or other .. big numbered long name thingy.  I'm not sure that I like it.  We need a phone for when we go cycling around or just for having on hand when we drive from place to place here in Canada .. everything and everywhere is a long distance apart ....  it's only really going to be for emergencies.  We undid the package and WOW is all I can say.  It's got the lot. Camera, texting, internet access, even radio stations and so many things to download .....I doubt that we'd ever know everything about it.  Now it's going to take us quite a while to even figure this beauty out.  I only hope we're not stuck somewhere in the snow or dying on the side of the road and we still haven't figured out how to use the darn thing.   No wonder all the young ones have them.  It's like Disneyland..........

Amazing and very, very sad statistic I heard today.  World War 2 veterans.  One dies every 90 seconds.  God bless them all for their bravery and service.  Young men going off to war .. only the fittest can go ... they leave behind the rest of us who are old, unfit, too young, all sorts of characteristics that take the young from us.... to fight for our freedom.  Now they are old, sick, tired, and often forgotten.  The old classic movie I watched last night was called "Enchantment" and it starred David Niven.  If you have a chance to see it ... you will enjoy it I'm sure as I did.  He was young and going off to war ... and it was his life story .... leaving behind the girl he loved .......  the last sentence at the end of the movie said Life Never Ends... it just continues through from the Past to the Future .... family beginnings, losses, experiences, deaths and children to carry on the name and the endeavour.
So many gorgeous things at this store....
how about the beautiful boudoir mirror half way down the page.... but wow!!! it's way expensive.

Saturday and Sunday nights I get to see my favourite English tv shows. Heartbeat and Midsomer Murders are amongst those.  And there isn't anything better than being propped up in bed with a nice cup of tea, perhaps a mystery book ... or just watching favourite shows, snuggled up keeping warm when the snow is coming down outside.
 I'm spoiled.......... my life is simple and I love it.  The only thing missing is my beautiful boy Wilbur snuggled up beside me or a fluffy cat who wants nothing more than to nudge his friend and keep me warm.  I had a nice visit this afternoon with some friends who have a cat and a dog and I got cuddles from them both.  I sure do miss a sweet little face in the morning wanting me to get up and let them out or feed them.

A lady who was cleaning out her house found an old vase.  She took it to someone for evaluation and to her surprise he told her it was worth about two million dollars.  Yikes!!!  It was a very old blue and white Chinese vase.  It went to auction and ............  it was sold for $86 million.   Good for her :-)

I guess I will need to go to more garage sales this coming spring and summer......

Tonight I was watching a show on the telly about the gorgeous white bear of British Columbia. He's a Kermode bear.  They showed an old one and a younger one.  The younger one was busily filling his belly with the plentiful and nourishing salmon which return up the rivers every year.  I was amazed to hear that the younger bear had put on 60 lbs in 5 weeks.  Wow....!! bless his heart. He was well prepared for his long winter sleep and he'll wake in the spring hungry again.   I guess the bears all around me here in the woods will be doing the same. Wouldn't that be great... to eat yourself silly ... with chocolates perhaps and ice cream and all the yummy things and gain 60lbs ... sleep all the long cold winter and wake up skinny again.  Now that's the life...........

Can't get much sneakier than this. Countries not admitting that products are coming from China or Taiwan.
The whole world is afraid of China-made"black hearted goods"...that kill our pets, our kids, our people who often digest or use products from China especially.

Can you differentiate which one is made in Taiwan or China ?
If the first 3 digits of the barcode are 690, 691or 692, the product is MADE IN CHINA
471 is Made in Taiwan. This is our right to know, but the government
and related departments never educate the public, therefore we have to RESCUE ourselves.
Nowadays, Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer products "MADE IN CHINA", so they don't show from which country it is made.
However, you may now refer to the barcode -
remember if the first 3 digits are:

690-692 ... then it is MADE IN CHINA
00 - 09 ... USA & CANADA
30 - 37 ... FRANCE
40 - 44 ... GERMANY
471 ... Taiwan
49 .. JAPAN
50 ... UK
BUY USA & CANADIAN MADE by watching for "0" at the beginning of the number.

Snow this morning..... it was so pretty to wake up to  after having spring and summer and now our little deer visitors will be arriving.   Today there was a little one peaking through the trees in the field looking at me watching what I was doing in the shed.  Putting away my swing seat I like to use in the summer .....  he or she will be back pretty soon when more snow comes so we're buying some cracked corn for them tomorrow.  They still have lots of food of course but a treat from us is what they are looking for... and then when winter is in full swing they will be arriving to just get nourishment to help them through the bitter cold.  I love seeing them.   :-)   Just gorgeous.............

I wish I had millions of spare dollars I would buy this and preserve it ... maybe turn it into a museum.... It should be kept.  He deserves to have it remain intact and for all to enjoy.  He sure has provided the world with so much enjoyment it's a pity the world can't do what is right.
He was a good man, kind and generous and loving to his family.... he moved to this house when his dear wife was dying in an effort to provide her with comfort in her last years.  His son died in the war...
he left no heirs.  Jane Austen's home has been preserved ... why isn't this one ... I cannot believe it. Take the time to leave a comment at the bottom on the page and who knows ... it might just help with the decision.

Big upset for the Americans today as the Republicans voice their opinions on the state of the country by voting many more into office.  I think many people are tired of the bad unemployment and housing crisis and the unlimited spending by the Government. We all have to balance our budgets ... yet they don't feel the need to do so.   I keep thinking in ten or twenty years the country will be run by Chinese if they aren't careful.  Their debt to the Chinese will never be paid back... it's too huge ....  On another subject today .. I'm off over to the dentist's office in a couple of hours. I would rather be doing anything else but that.   I absolutely hate it hate it hate it.  I wish I could be grinning like this little dog.... He's so cute....  Maybe he's a happier Republican today .... or maybe it's me on my way home from the dentist after my tooth has been fixed.

Tomorrow is a big election day in the United States.  I really hope people get out and vote for the good of the country. It's principles, morals, money, liberty, freedom of speech and everything else that is American is being eroded daily.   Make the effort.... VOTE   I'll be watching the results as they come in ... I have my favourite Governors I hope win ...  but Wow has it been a vicious, back biting, bundle of back stabbing and really awful campaigning.  Meg Whitman has spend a gigantic $160 million of her own money ... I don't think I'd be too happy about that if it was family money going down the political drain.  And Obama has now the nickname of "Campaigner in Chief".    That seems to be all he does ......
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sad news about Michael Douglas having only three months to live. His recent photos were indicative of his failing health.  And then there's Charlie Sheen who has filed for divorce... or rather his wife has.... to the tune of $57,000 a month in child support.  Good heavens.  That's incredible to believe that they can ask .. and get... that amount of money per month.
.....It's thirsty work being scarey ....
I'm glad you enjoyed the image I shared earlier ....below .. great creation you made with it Saralee...
thanks for posting it to me...
You can click on the image and see the grands larger ... :-)   halloween-ing.
We had some little ones come visit last night .. actually more than usual.  I guess the weather was nicer so they were out more.  One little one was walking along in the twilight ... tiny little tot with a bandage dragging behind. Obviously it was a mini-mummy.  lol....
I opened the door to meet them and dad was carrying the mini-mummy up the front steps.  I could only see the back and asked if it was a little girl or a little boy.  Dad explained it was a girl and when she turned around her little pink outfit had been covered in sewn on bits of white sheet cut into strips.  Dad explained that the big-mum had bought the sheet and sewn on the strips herself.   The little girl looked great and I think she was the cutest and nicest one of our visitors.
They all seemed to arrive with lots of goodies in their bags already. We had princesses, draculas, spidermans, scarecrows, clowns, even a giraffe turned up.  So funny.   Our Connor and Hannah seemed to be having a good time by their photo ... even though we were not able to see them in person as they live a long way away from us now.
