Woo! Hoo!

How nice it is to sit in your brand new car ... when nobody else has owned it ... when its only got 200 kms on the meter ... when everything is shiny, and smells like leather.  Love it.   And so does our little Miss Peanut Daisy dog .... Now we can look forward to some nice driving trips around our beautiful province of British Columbia.  Can't wait.  A pretty spot near our home....

Pretty Bags to Make

I came across this pattern a while back and thought they were so nice.  Easy to make and what a nice way to dress up your outfit for summer or spring.  I'd love taking these to flea markets or outdoor events  ... I guess if you want the pattern you can go to the website mentioned.

Terrible Mother

Oh dear ... my sweet little dog, Peanut Daisy must think I'm a terrible mother after trying to cut her toenails.  What a fiasco that was  .. she is absolutely terrified of anyone touching her toes so I'm guessing she's had a bad experience in her previous home.  I know she had a bad time and needed rescuing (which we did) .. but I felt so sad and bad at having to trim the bear-like claws at least down a little bit.  I managed to get them done after a whole lot of wrapping her up, holding her down, tapping her lightly on the nose to try and get her to stop being so silly ....shouting at her to stop it ...  it was quite an effort and I was exhausted when we were done.  I thought she'd pack up her little doggie bag (toys and all) and leave home at the first opportunity.   But thank goodness she still loves her mum and we are "friends" again.  And she has perfectly groomed toenails fit for a beauty queen.

Thank You

I just wanted to thank everyone who has commented on my blog.  Blogspot can be a bit of a bother sometimes and I've only just re-read all the comments that have been made and posted.  Inspiring, and lovely to read what you think about my life here in the woods, and information about my pets and the wildlife that surrounds me.

My dad used to love animals and I'm guessing I got my love for them from him.  Bless him I miss him so much.  He used to take me fishing and we'd sit on the wharf for hours hoping to catch something. Some days I caught nothing more than a bad cold ..but it was fun and I was happy to be with him.

Do comment on my posts.  I'm not sure if they should have headers or not...titles ... for each one but I've not added those at all ... unlike my hubby who always puts a post header in his blog..  Anyway adding to my blog each day or when I remember too, helps to fill in the long hours of retirement living up here in the woods with often not a lot to do if you can't go skiing or walk too far and not a lot of shops close by where I can go shopping ...argh!!!!   to be back in Oz with my girlfriends having afternoon tea or gossiping with a glass of wine out in their gardens.  Miss them too ... so, so much.

Blown Away

Wow, last evening we had a huge storm. It was like a hurricane blowing through our yard and tree branches were going everywhere.  I heard the geese coming in their formation for flying south and the poor darlings were getting tossed around and blown in all directions.   As much as I love them and have read all about them I never took the weather into consideration.  They were tossing and turning and I was hoping they could land somewhere quickly and find some shelter before any of them were hurt.

The storm didn't last long thank goodness so I sure hope they weren't injured.  I worried about them for a long time.  They have so much to deal with .........  and whilst I was looking for them in the sky and trying to keep out of the horrible wind I noticed a lonely little sunflower in the field which must have come from the crows dropping the sunflower seeds I put out for them all.  Hubby went out and picked it for me and it now sits in the centre of my table and looks beautiful.   Things never cease to amaze me.  A tiny seed dropped by a bird onto the field and up sprouts and blooms a glorious, colourful, flower.

Wow this year has gone quickly.  August is half way through already and the beautiful Canadian geese are flying south already. It's way too early for them to be doing that so it's a bad sign for the coming winter.  I've seen four flocks of them flying over our house ... I love seeing them.... they fly in formation and honk all the way. I was surprised to read that they do a lot of their flying at night .. clever things they must be.  And it takes about 2 weeks to fly from way up north from us to Florida. Many, many hazards on the way of course  ... when I see them I always look up and wish them a safe journey.

A couple of images for you to save to your stash. Please DO NOT upload them to anywhere else.

I love all animals as you know if you are a regular visitor to my blog and sheep are no exception.  I had a pet one for 17 years .. her name was Lamby .. and her mother had twins and could not look after her so she came to our house with a guy on a motorbike when I was about 12 years old.  I had no brothers or sisters so of course she became my best friend and playmate.   I adored her ....
this is such a nice vintage image of a sheep .... I remember mum would go mad when I picked a bunch of flowers from the garden to give to her to eat.  She loved roses best.
