I printed out a small photo of my old Dozer dog this morning to put into my little gold locket I wear all the time. He'll be in there with my sweet darling Wilbur who died 4 years ago. He was a special little guy I brought with me from Australia when I came to live in Canada. Now I'll have my two boys with me all the time. Somehow a little gold locket helps heal the pain and loneliness of not having Wilbur with me ... and it will keep my new "old dog" with me as well. It makes you feel that they are with you wherever you go.... always in one's heart.

We've had snow this morning.... deer visited and they are not one bit scared of my big old barking Dozer dog. I think they know he doesn't go any further than the fence line.

We went outside early in the darkness and there was a heap of wolves or coyotes howling in the distance. I felt sad for the little deer who had seen us come out in the shadows and were waiting for some food. I sure hope they stay safe.

You can click on the image to see it so much larger... this guy was my first visitor this morning and he helped himself to the bird seed in the feeders.. then along came the mother deer and the 6 little ones who obviously are orphaned either from having their mum killed by wolves or other predators, hunters or perhaps by trains or vehicles. I always feel so sad to see them .. but the one female seems to know they are alone so they have all come together and formed their own little herd. They are all quite beautiful standing in the snow ... sometimes with snow on their eyelashes and chin and as little as the small ones are they still do the kicking trick to get the other ones away from the corn on the snow. Quite funny to watch them imitating the big guy...

I've gone all catty lately.... :-)
I love making these cute little furry things into something vintage and pretty. I wish I had some little grand babies so I could frame the kitties and put them up on their nursery walls. Wow ... its's oh! so cold here this morning... minus 45 ... the deer came and are standing holding up their feet because they obviously are freezing out there ... little whiskers and eyelashes have icicles on them. As did my Dozer dog yesterday when he ventured out there for about 3 minutes. They have plenty to eat however... after a trip to the supermarket to get all the produce they were tossing into the bins. We came home with lots of watermelon, oranges, carrots, lettuce, potatoes, beets, apples etc. After a two or more hour cut up session where we had to take off the rubber bands, or plastic bags etc. it all got chopped up and put out on the ice for the deer and birds. They are well and truly into it this morning but I did have to try and loosen it all up with the shovel. It's all like cement. Hard as rocks but I watched as they pried away a piece of watermelon and obviously it melts in their mouth like popsicles. I sure hope our temperatures rise a bit soon.

Our deer have been visiting today .. poor little things its so cold out there. Minus 35 or lower tonight. Strange thing was when I saw them today there were 6 little ones and only one mother. I don't know why they are all coming with the mother and her twins ... perhaps they are orphaned ... and just following her around. I fed them lots .. and they even sat in the little covered wooded hideout just at our fence line ... and enjoyed some much needed afternoon warmth from the sun.

As I wake each morning and look at my adorable Dozer dog .. he's getting old... but he sure is beautiful. I'm envious of his gorgeous thick fur coat, which does not need ironing, does not need mending, does not shrink when he gains weight .... he never needs his hair cut, and he's absolutely stunning every single day of his life no matter his age or his size. No wrinkles, no double chin, doesn't have to buy new clothes, doesn't worry about whats in or out ... he's not fashion conscious. And best of all he loves me whether I'm fat or thin, clever or dumb, poor or rich ....whether I can walk slow or fast, whether I need a haircut or a makeover or a trip to the beauty parlour... He takes me as I am ...our love heals everything.

Seems like these years go by so quickly ... our little deer are arriving.. more each day to get the corn I leave for them. Mum and two babies yesterday. Also the little chickadees never seem to go away ... they are always hungry and always looking for the sunflower seeds.

During the Christmas holidays I watched a few of Jane Austen's stories in movies on PBS. Last night I also watched "Howard's End" .. a British show about love and lost fortunes and a glorious big house in the country.

Costumes were stunning, and the interior scenes were gorgeous.
Then today I downloaded a freebie book for my Kindle all about Jack the Ripper. A new theory on who he might have been.
I really am a vintage/Victorian fan... :-)

New Years Eve come and gone downunder... now its our turn here in British Columbia. I think we are the last place on earth to change years.... 2012 ... gosh that is hard to imagine and understand. Do you remember when it was going to turn 2000 and everyone was concerned about the clocks ... in airplanes, computers, everything that had a digital number ... they didn't know what was going to happen because it had not been programmed in for a new century. Well my new years eve was just a walk outside in the snow and on the ice with my old Dozer dog. I bundled myself up like an eskimo. Minus 18 or so .... terribly cold .... I find my face hurts when I come back inside ....
I have enjoyed the Christmas period ... read three books... surprised myself by that accomplishment. I know I am a quick reader but in three weeks that sure is fast.

I gave the deer some corn this afternoon when two little ones arrived. I fed the chickadees who never seem to disappear from the snowy days. The squirrel got something so I guess all is well with my little part of the world up here at the top of the planet. I sure do hope that the New Year brings some peace to the world. I can only pray that it will.

I sure hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Ours was extra quiet ... and cold... we had rain instead of snow but what the heck... we have plenty of snow out there to last us a lifetime. I used my pretty red plates to serve our supper on so that was festive ... even our Dozer dog had his meal on one of the red plates ... no matter.... :-) He's one of the family and it was a very special occasion... his first Christmas with us.

Heaps of thawing snow falling from my roof last night kept me awake. I was just dozing off with Dozer ... lol.... when another big slab of the white stuff would budge and slide down the side of the house and hit the ground with a shattering thud. All crunchy and noisy and some of the falls scared the wits out of me. I hate it when it does that. I guess the temperature overnight went up a few degrees and started the snow moving. It's been so cold. I was beginning to think Santa was up there .. and had arrived early .... such noisy stuff when it falls but good that it comes down I guess.... to make room for the next big bunch of it....

(don't I wish ... :-) after spending all morning shovelling snow from our deck, our driveway, the boot room roof and around the yard so my Dozer dog can walk about. Soon all I'll see is a pair of ears going around the yard .... it's piling up and up but he sure does like his little "avenues" I have made for him so he can get about easily.

A very pretty Santa... sometimes these vintage santas look a bit scarey but not this one.... gorgeous beard ...

And a cute little baby. We have some pretty displays outside homes around our area .... lots of them seem to have the blow up thingies like moose and santas and even next door has penguins in a sled . They are huge and a heated fan keeps them inflated up here in the cold of Canada.
There is even a huge polar bear down on the corner ....and he looks right at home on the ice and snow.

This morning I'm up very early.. it's only 4.30 a.m. so I can see the eclipse of the moon. It's supposed to be happening in an hour or so ... it will turn deep red and orange ... we have a great view of it here with no street lights or distractions. Only thing is its snowing outside so I'll be bundled up warm .... Then I can have a cup of tea and snuggle back down into my bed .... :-)

Well my grand dog ... who lives about 10 hrs away from me ... has already undone his Christmas gift. We sent a parcel down to the family and I included some rawhide doggie treats for Chewie dog. Family woke up one morning to hear chewing sounds and it was my darling boy .. eating his Christmas gift.... he'd undone the package and got stuck into them. So funny. I remember one Christmas back in Australia when my beautiful Old English Sheepdog got under the christmas tree and undone every single parcel I had wrapped and put there. The shirts in boxes had teeth holes in the box, and all sorts of things were nearly destroyed. I guess it was my fault for putting his doggie treats under the tree for him too. I sure do miss him and I'm so glad I have Dozer this year. My Wilbur dog also loved to undo his own gifts.... :-)

I finished a new digital collage sheet of pretty pink cupcakes today. I love cupcakes... what a special and pretty way to have something on hand for people to come and enjoy with a spot of hot tea in a vintage cup. I love those cupcake trees I've seen ... decorating plates of wire really where you start at the bottom and have but one cupcake at the top ... they look wonderful. I think Martha Stewart had some for sale and I've also seen them in cake stores now as well. I also took some photos today of my very gorgeous old Dozer dog.... He sure is being spoiled. I just adore him and I am so glad I could give him a nice warm home inside .... out of the bitter cold of Canadian winters ... he sure does tell me he wants to come in ....

I went shopping today in atrocious snowy conditions. Driving was treacherous, wind was blowing, snow was falling.. We were so glad to get home safely. A long drive through the woods along the huge Canadian highways is always very pretty but especially today when everything was absolutely covered from head to toe with huge blobs of snow. Every tree was a Christmas tree... just spectacular and wonderful. I sure do love having Christmas in the snow.

I just noticed my little bear christmas header on my blog has an American flag in the basket ... perhaps I should have replaced it with an Aussie flag or a Canadian one... nah!!!! I love the Stars and the Stripes.. it's such a dramatic and pretty flag .. I even have one of my own.

We have had a lot of snow recently... I guess winter is really upon us. It always looks beautiful in December with lots of pretty sparkling lights from homes around the area. I love having Christmas in the snow. It gives me a chance to wear pretty scarves and hats and mittens... big woolly gloves when I take old Dozer for a walk ... warm boots and woolly socks ...

There really is nothing like it. And I'm still amazed at the wonderful things I see when the snow has fallen and its landed on fence posts, railings, trees etc ... in all different patterns. I looked at our wooden fence the other day in the snow and it had swags of snow across it like fancy curtains in a dining room. So pretty..

Photoshop.... wow no wonder people use it so much. It has some stunning plug in/filters to use for all sorts of great stuff. I guess my winter here in the snow and cold of northern British Columbia will be at least busy this year whilst I learn how to use the program and get all the stuff I need to be creative. Paintshop pro is great too and it is my favourite graphics program but I have wanted to know all about photoshop for years now and the time has come for me to be experimental and brave ... lol..... and venture forth into the unknown. Who knows what things I'll come up with when I get the hang of it. At least I'll have something to do during the long winter months which seem to go on for about three quarters of the year.

Friend just phoned .. said he had a visitor up a tree. His beautiful golden retriever had chased a bear and it was sitting on the branches out of reach of Ben. So funny.... Ben got called inside and the bear made his journey down the tree and into the woods. I guess he's still getting the bird seed but he really should be sleeping or at least snuggled up in his den by now. It was so cold this morning... minus 20 and my walk with Dozer dog was short and shivery. He, of course didn't care. We came home and I threw a cheese bun out the door onto the snow for the birds ... but of course its in Dozer's belly because he didn't want anyone else to have it. One would think he's starving but instead he's being treated like royalty and because he's so big and grows a thick coat in the winter I guess he wants to keep eating as much as he can. Poor little birds will have to get another bread roll whilst old sleepy Dozer is having his afternoon nap.

lots of cold up here in the woods of British Columbia. I took old Dozer for a walk this morning and was really really glad to get back inside. All of my face was aching, my hands were cold, my nose was nearly frozen ... and it was excrutiatingly slippery trying to walk on the ice. I gently plodded my way around trying to step on the pebbles or ruts of ice that were there from tyre tracks.... but baby steps made the walk very long and exhausting. I think we'll be keeping inside a bit more if the cold continues. Perhaps I'm turning into a wimp ... :-) It never used to affect me like it has this past year and this November. Maybe its the old age creeping up that is also making me scared of falling over....

Time to buy the winter tyres. Our little white Jeep is covered in snow ... the roads are snowy, its hard to walk on the frozen snow .. so I'll be buying some of those wire things you put on your boots to stop you slipping and sliding when you walk. I love them. They certainly do work amazingly and with all this walking I'm doing with the old Dozer dog I'm sure to be timid on my feet. It's really dangerous sometimes ... especially if he sees a cat and wants to chase it. He might be getting old like me but he's still got a lot of "oomph" when it comes to going after those little furry things that go meow ... I hope you all are keeping warm up here in the northern hemisphere. Downunder of course they are coming into summer. How very different it is to spend December in the snow instead of the heat. I don't miss those very stuffy and awkward heated days when cooking turkey or something else in the oven is the last thing you want to be doing. Some bathing beauties for you ... from the 1920's....

Surprise today out in the field to see four little deer. I wondered what my beautiful white Dozer dog was barking at .. it's usually a squirrel or a cat or the crows .. but today it was the deer. There is still lots of food for them to eat so we don't need to start giving them the cracked corn we usually do over the winter months... not yet anyway .... It was lovely to see them and they even started walking towards me when I spoke to them.

This little girl reminded me of one of our trick or treaters last night who came around for Halloween. We had quite a few visitors and they were all very sweet and polite ... which was extra nice. I watched the telly after everything had calmed down and saw a program where people had won the lottery. One guy paid $45,000 for a new mouth full of teeth. Good heavens .. then I got onto watching Rich Bride Poor Bride .. and one couple forked out $56,000 for their "very ordinary" wedding. Prices were incredible.. they went way over their budget ... It wasn't even a nice looking wedding although they seemed to enjoy it so I guess that's the main thing. But wow .. that would have made a good deposit on a nice house.

Won't be long before its Valentines' day .. the way the weeks go flying by ..

Happy Halloween to everyone who celebrates it. I saw Halloween candy in the stores yesterday alongside Christmas boxes of candies etc. They used to wait till one occasion was over before they piled out the other goodies but now they just keep adding more and more.

I'm looking forward to seeing all the cute little children coming to our door soon. Have to put my old Dozer dog in the bedroom and turn up the television so he wont hear the fireworks.... they sure do hate those....

I'm so glad we get to spend our time together up here in the woods of British Columbia. We aren't that far from the bottom part of Alaska ... and its quite wonderful to see all the snow and the animals. It sure is a beautiful part of the world.

Off to the dentist ... last visit .... and the appointment is at 6 p.m. I think that's the latest time I've ever had to go to the dentist. Yuk ! I'm not liking it at all.... at least I'm only a few streets away so that is probably the best thing about the whole process. Not having a long drive to the nearest bigger town to see the dentist. It's good now we have one in our little country town. Please don't forget to click on the animal rescue button down the right hand side of the page... they all need us to do that regularly. It won't cost you anything... and you'll be helping some sweethearts with food and shelter.

Happy days .. well today anyway... I passed my written drivers licence test which means I can now take the road test. Not having driven for 10 years takes a bit of getting used to again when you sit behind the wheel of a snazzy white Jeep. I love it and did good when I had a practice run this morning. I don't want to leave it too long before I go for the road test now because the snow and ice will be arriving soon and that makes everything so much more difficult.

This is such a pretty garden scene. This morning I asked my new group members .. from "Art-a-la-Carte" to send in images of flowers. I need some flowers.....lol.

This morning when I opened the door to let the dog out... we found about 6 inches of snow. It's so pretty but it all seems a bit early. I think today we'll have to cover up our conifer trees out front because the deer won't be far away now that the snow has arrived and they seem to think the trees are good snacking material. I've been busy over the weekend reading up on my road rules book so I can get my drivers licence again. I have driven for 33 years in Australia ... and two years here in Canada ... I let it lapse for some time and now want to get it again ... but what a hassle. I'm back to being a Learner ... so hopefully if I can get the book into my head I'll be at least able to do the written test this week. Urgh!!! it wasn't easy getting it in the first place here in Canada. Everything is back the front from what I've learned and used and driven by in Australia. It's like trying to drive in the mirror. oh well... I'll keep reading my book this week... after I go to the dentist for my new crown ... and a few other things I need to do ... I'll go over to the transport office in town and see what I can do.... I want to drive our new little Jeep. It's so sweet... I love it...

Some pretties to add to your stash... gosh we just had Thanksgiving here in Canada and soon it will be Halloween.... then onwards and upwards to Christmas. We had a very weird summer and everyone says it will be a bad winter.... all of them are bad .. when the temperatures get down to minus 40 or so. I'm looking forward to seeing my little deer come visiting again.

I was outside the mall today with my beautiful white "Dozer dog" and so many people stopped and commented on how pretty he was. One little girl said "he likes me' and had the biggest smile as she touched his head. Ladies with kids in strollers, elderly ladies, expectant mothers, and some teenagers all said he was a lovely dog .... I told my hubby that his son ought to get himself a big white dog .. because he'd certainly be a girl magnet. so funny..... If somone wanted to pick up girls then they need a big white dog like old Dozer.

I had my last eye appointment this afternoon ... all is good thank heavens and my eyesight now is spectacular after my surgery. Only bad thing about seeing so good is now my wrinkles are obvious. Yikes!!! I never saw them before .... lol.....

Gosh these weeks go by so quickly. Today is wonderful sunshine and I've got my Dozer dog waiting for me to take him for a walk. He sure gets impatient ....... :-) he had to wait a bit longer this morning whilst I showered and washed my hair but he's sitting beside me now just waiting for me to move away from the keyboard and get out there.... It will soon be Halloween .... I have seen lots of pretties in the stores .... I sure do wish I'd done the trick or treating thing when I was younger but living in Australia we just didn't celebrate Halloween at all. Well a shock today.... snow... already. It's way to early. Even the bears aren't prepared for snow. It was very frosty when we woke up then later this morning down came the pretty white stuff... (which I love completely). I had to put on my coat and go for a walk in it of course..... but its only the end of September. I can remember a few years back when we didn't get snow until the 21st December and everyone was wondering if we weren't going to have a white christmas. It's way too early for it ...

I think I'm the only one in town who loves the snow... but hey! ... it's a treat for an Aussie to see it and especially at Christmas time when we are so used to having hot days and sweltering heatwaves.

I guess tomorrow now I'll have to put away my patio furniture... it looks weird covered in snow.... :-)

Rain today and very chilly as I took my beautiful white Dozer dog out for a walk. I needed my coat and would have liked to have worn my gloves as well. Very cool and it seems to have come upon us so quickly. Old Dozer of course doesn't much care what the weather is like as long as he's walking ... but it did surprise him this afternoon when I opened the door for him to go out and he did a pretty quick U-turn on the deck and came rushing back inside.... Snow is up on the mountains and it never really completely left this summer. oh dear ! .......

The little birds are busy filling themselves up getting ready for the winter. So are the bears. We've had a few around us lately ... so gorgeous. I loved seeing them on the green grass. Pure black ... I still have a persistent squirrel who is wanting to build a squirrel home in the bird feeder. I'd let him do it if it wasn't for the fact that cats can easily get to him or her.... or even the crows... so it wouldn't be nice to have them feed on the baby squirrels next spring. Gosh there is always something happening... bless them all. I do worry about them in the winter. It's a battle of life for most of them...

Heard on the news this morning that Fall begins next week. Where did our summer go to. Ours was practically non existent this year ... perhaps not a good sign for the long winter to come. My deer will be returning sooner than later I think. I will miss sitting on the deck listening to the birds .,.. but I guess I didn't do much of that this year either in between all the rain we were having. No wonder there are zillions of beautiful trees here in British Columbia. They sure get plenty of water... and they are packed in so thick as you drive past on the highways or venture into the woods that its so dark in there you'd never see a black bear if he was looking at you face to face. Anyway I guess all that crummy summer gave me time to open my Etsy Shoppe and make some very pretty things for everyone and its proving a popular venture. I'm surprised at what the ladies want to do with my images. Ideas I'd never thought of. They like them and so do I... :-)

Remembering September 11th today. We will never forget the images and the sorrow. Heartbreaking this morning to see loved ones crying ....

and just as special are all the lives lost in the wars after this happened. As they read the names of those who died at the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon and at Shanksville ...I wish they would read the names also of the soldiers who have died and the thousands upon thousands who have been injured in their efforts to catch the terrorists. Of course that's an impossible task but one that we cannot forget.

Root canal... is there anything on the planet worse than root canal at the dentist. I was there for 4 hours .... getting too old for that stuff.

Dentist visit today .... and then another one at 4.30 p.m. same day. I've never done that before. Came out of the surgery and threw up on the footpath. Felt rotten. Gosh I sure do hate going to dentists and doctors. We still have our little grands stopping with us and I think I'm beginning to get cartoon overdose. :-) Love the kids, hate the cartoons. Oh well.... I can always read my Kindle which I adore. Its great and yesterday I took it to the doctors and read my story whilst I waited for my turn.

I'm having trouble this morning with the dreaded lock icon appearing in my files. Its a windows 7 thing and when I see previews of my images the lock appears in the bottom left hand corner ... I've tried numerous times to get rid of it but it keeps returning. I hate windows 7 .. and I definitely hate windows live mail... urgh! why do they make things so complicated these days ....

My eyesight is improving on a daily basis after my surgery .... I love being able to see so much better except of course when I look in the mirror and see wrinkles I never knew I had. Not to mention also a small cavity in the front tooth on the bottom ... its very tiny but now I can see it so I have already made an appointment with the dentist. Maybe a face lift will be my next adventure .. (when I win the lottery .. ) lol.

This morning there seems to be a whole lot of changes everywhere I visit. Even blogspot has a different uploading area ... then there was Yahoo mail.. they have a new look. I sure wish they would leave things alone because inevitably it causes problems..like the passwords at yahoo mail weren't working and they had tons of complaints and problems.

Our summer seems to have forgotten to appear this year and already its getting chilly and so much cooler. My flowers didn't last long ..and I only had a couple of days to sit out on my deck. Yikes ! .. the beautiful little deer will be returning soon I guess when the first snowfall happens. I miss them when they don't appear ... it will be interesting to see if they still feel familiar with the place after they smell my new "old doggie" Dozer around. He'll be locked up good and safe inside whilst I feed them so he shouldn't be a problem.

Gosh some days I forget to sign in here and leave you a blog post. With my eye surgery, my new old dog, and my grand daughter here its been a bit hectic lately. I sure do love seeing better. Everything sparkles especially the chandelier over my kitchen table which I picked up last year at a garage sale. I'd never seen it before with so much light glistening on the drops and the gold parts were shiny and new looking. Even the sun coming in through my lace curtains look prettier. The fog has been lifted.... the brightness has arrived and the depth of colour and clarity is spectacular. I made sure I gave my doctor a hug before I left him the day after my surgery and told him how clever he was and how much I appreciated him. I think he was a bit shocked ... Sadly I don't think enough people express their gratitude as they should.

My lovely new "old dog" is settling in and making himself completely at home. If I don't get up and dressed quickly enough he's barking at me to get a move on so we can go walking. If nothing else I might end up a bit fitter. He is much better at it than I am... we are a good pair at times with aching bones and creaking knees. He's absolutely beautiful and a joy to care for. I hope I can give him some quality and fun and love and warmth in the years he has left. We never know what is around the corner in our lives .. the years go by so darn quickly lately I just can't keep up.

I love comments as the little image says so drop me a line as I'd love to hear from you and let me know if you enjoy my blog .... somewhere I saw on the news that blogger viewership had been dropping along with so many other once busy websites ... I guess more people are Facebooking or Twittering than reading blogs these days.

Well eye surgery wasn't too bad. I was very sick afterwards and was eager to get home again. It will be about 3 months before I can lift anything or bend down plus I have to only sleep on one side and wear an eye guard when sleeping or napping. Hopefully I'll be able to see a whole lot better in the future. More visits to the doctors though before all that happens ........ I'll get something made for you all here soon.....

My eye surgery is this coming Monday and I'm scared about it all. The procedure sounds like a script from a sci fi movie... yikes!! I'm just hoping it helps me to see better because I sure hate being nearly blind. I'd miss not being able to create and design pretty things for people to use. Plus how would I walk the dog ... my brand new companion called Dozer. I guess he'd have to walk me. Bless his little heart he's stuck to me like super glue. Won't leave my side. He's bathed, brushed, toenails clipped, ears cleaned, and he's looking pretty cool. We will be so good for each other.

I sure do love having an adopted "son".... he's so gorgeous and we walk every day a couple of times. Dozer is good company, and so funny. I know I'll have to start taking lots of photos of him because he is quite stunning. Big white wolf face ... he's like a small horse... lol.....

Having lovely, lovely lovely visit with grand daughter Hannah. She's getting so tall and is quite beautiful. Yesterday we made ice cream delights ... in sugar cone bowls, filled them with strawberries, bananas, whipped cream, ice cream, sprinkles, drizzled melted chocolate and mars bar pieces all over and had great fun. And another nice thing happened the other day when my dear old hubby said to me that we could adopt the doggie Dozer from two doors down and have him as our own.

He's being spoiled by me .. and I'm so happy that he won't have to be out in the cold winters ever again. I sure do love him. He's about 9 or 10 so whatever years he has left they will be comfortable and happy with me looking after him and keeping him company. We'll be keeping each other company. Nothing in the whole world is worse than loneliness..... and I have a "sleeping" design assistant now who seems to want to make himself comfortable on the soft rug on the floor in our little office next to me at the computer. He's sticking to me like super glue.... lol.....

Well the old pot plants have bitten the dust....got completely water logged with all the rain before I went on holiday and now they have pretty much had it. Oh well. At least its nice to see the lovely green grass around us and thank goodness there are no forest fires. Lawns have been mowed, weeds have been whacked, birds and squirrels have been fed and I guess all is well with my little world up here in the woods.

Sadly the mayhem in London with the rioting is absolutely terrible.... I've not watched a lot of the world news when I was away and that's been a good thing because so much of it is devastating and sad. I also have had a good rest for my right arm which has carpal tunnel syndrome .. or Repetitive Strain Injury as we call it in Australia ... now I have my eye operation ahead of me next week and as much as I'm scared stiff about it I really am looking forward to seeing better and perhaps getting my driving licence back. Our cute little white Jeep is so nice and I would love to be driving it so I'll have to get studying the rules again and when I pass my eye test I'll be ready to roll and tryout for the licence.

Home at last. My 2 week vacation down south to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island and also to Kamloops and Langley went very quick. We had heaps of fun with children and grandchildren and the greatgrandpa and greatgrandma ... wonderful trip on a huge ferry .... watched a movie at the cinema which is quite a treat for us as we don't have a movie theatre in our little country town. Lots of yummy yummy yummy things to eat like Baskin and Robbins ice cream...... to die for..... I had a double scoop ... one was pineapple and coconut, and the other was rocky road.. in a sugar cone that was coated in chopped up reese's pieces.. those delicious candy bars that are chocolate and peanut butter.

Bought lots of pretty things at the Michaels craft store.. got some new shoes at the Walmart, and played in the pool with the grand children. Of course of course of course... very important person to see was my beautiful grand dog Chewie. I think I spoiled him and I'm sure this morning when he woke up he'd be looking in my bedroom to see if his grandma was there. He snored, he wriggled and we laughed and had fun.

It's always good to get home again. But it seems like we've been away for ages. I didn't even remember how to do some things on my Etsy shoppe settings ... but I guess it won't take long to all come back to me. We came home to wonderful sunshine ... and a lawn knee deep. I'll be sharing some pretties for you soon ...

I have my friend Dozer here for the weekend again. We went for a nice long walk this morning at 6 am. and now .. like most dogs... he's sleeping again. After he got me up to go for a walk he now flops down and is snoozing whilst I'm wide awake. Lovely summers day its going to be.

Finally summer seems to have arrived up here in the woods. The mosquitos are out and about in plentiful supply which always makes me feel sorry for the animals who have no escape from them other than to jump into the nearest river, lake or stream. On our bike ride this evening we saw a wonderful sight. A mother deer crossing the little back street from the wooded area into another field and running like the wind behind her was a little fawn. He or she was following mum as fast as possible. They were not in any danger but I did say a prayer as I continued on my bike ride that they would not venture too much further in that direction because the train line was getting very close. I worry all the time that they will be killed. An astounding 25,000 animals are killed on railways, and roads each year across Canada. At that figure I wonder if there is any left .......... so sad ...... I guess that includes foxes .. one of which we saw close to the road ... also deer, moose, wolves, coyotes, lynx, skunks and every other big or small creature that inhabits the woods. I sure do love seeing them and now have three little squirrels arguing daily about who is going to get the sunflower seeds before the birds do.

Oh I am so glad that Casey Anthony trial is over and done with apart from the sentencing tomorrow. It's been a long 6 weeks watching it. Enthralling and often weird. I still do not know how she was found not guilty in the death of her sweet little girl. I doubt Casey's life will be worth much now with all the people who disagreed with the verdict pestering and hounding her. She was definitely guilty. Many people are calling it the OJ 2 verdict. Same atrocious outcome. So sad for the little girl ... no justice .... How any mother could not even report her child missing for 31 days .. then it wasn't even her then who rang police .. it was her own mother. Little Caylee looked sweet and adorable and was obviously loved by her grandparents. I don't think they want anything more to do with their daughter Casey after this.

We are off for a drive today in our new vehicle. Well new to us anyway. It's so nice .. I love it. And maybe now I can get my drivers licence again and get out and about a bit more. Garage sales ... trips to the pizza parlour, at least I'll be able to take myself to the doctors or dentist. Independance ... can't beat that.

I have a Canada long weekend guest ... his name is Dozer and he is absolutely gorgeous. He's ten years old and lives two doors down and his grandparents who care for him have gone away for three days.

So far we have walked twice quite a long way, we've had hamburgers and grilled cheese sandwiches ... He's so beautiful with a big thick coat like a wolf.

Of course he's getting spoiled. We'll be having eggs and bacon for breakfast tomorrow. I think he might want to move in here permanently.

Had fun today making some Christmas images for my Etsy Shoppe. There are some glorious old vintage santas to work with. They sure are a nice way to decorate a gift rather than an ordinary modern tag or card. Since I've lived in Canada in the snow for winter I always thought it was like being inside a christmas card. Everything you see around you is picture perfect and so beautiful. I love taking photographs in the winter but tomorrow I must take some of my flowers in my garden so I can add them to my digital designs. The flowers don't last long and the season seems to be so short .... I guess we only have a few months before the cold and the snow begins to return. Good thing about that is ... my lovely deer will also return.

Still waiting for Summer to arrive... up here in the woods of British Columbia.... we have had lots of rain and I haven't even had a chance to sit on my deck swing and read my Kindle. I'm beginning to wonder if we'll ever see nice days of sunshine. My poor potted plants in their containers are getting water logged ... and the rain keeps coming. We braved it yesterday and ventured out to a big yard sale. I got myself some pretty pink ribbon, a big colourful platter, a white painted basket ... (gotta love baskets).... some fabric to make myself a new tablecloth, and some pretty gingham hearts that someone had made obviously for coasters to put your drinks on. I might think of a better way to use them... they are really nice. We basically had the whole yard sale to ourselves.. hardly any people ......... now I guess with water in the field again this morning we might see our ducks back again. I think they are confused too as to where summer is....

Two little girls with their dollies.... As I am searching around for vintage images to use in my Etsy Shoppe creations .... and enjoying seeing all the young faces I came across the one at the top. She's me.... :-) I guess taken around 1953. I remember my dolls name was Sally and I sure did love her. Having no brothers or sisters it was the pets and the doll that kept me company. At the time the photo was taken I was on a ferry ride from Hobart over to the eastern shore. Tasmania. I actually remember going on the ferry with mum and dad. Don't know what happened to Sally. She had a lovely little wooden framed bed which was painted blue .. I remember that as well. I wonder where you are now dear Sally ... I'd like to think some little girl is taking care of you back home in Oz.
